Emergency Relief for Rio Grande do Sul Flood Victims
The recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, have caused immense devastation, affecting over 646,000 people and tragically claiming 162 lives. Thousands of families are now homeless, struggling to secure basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter. This disaster is the worst flooding the region has seen in over 80 years.
Details of the Crisis:
- The floods began on April 29, 2024, and are still ongoing.
- The affected area includes the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and the adjacent Uruguayan cities of Treinta y Tres, Paysandú, Cerro Largo, and Salto.
- The heavy rains triggered widespread landslides and the collapse of a dam, exacerbating the situation.
- Over 150 people have lost their lives due to the floods. It is considered the country’s worst flooding in over 80 years.
- These floods are the fourth major environmental disaster in Brazil during the same solar year, following similar calamities in July, September, and November 2023.
At Minas Hill Coffee, we believe in supporting our community, especially in times of crisis. That’s why, through the MinasHill Foundation, we are launching a GoFundMe campaign to provide immediate relief to the victims. Our goal is to raise as much as possible to supply emergency aid, including food, clean water, clothing, temporary shelter, medical supplies, and hygiene products.
In addition to our fundraising campaign, we will be donating 10% of all sales from our awarded Mantiqueira microlots to support the relief efforts. This dual approach will help maximize our impact and provide much-needed assistance to the affected community.
How You Can Help:
- Donate: Every dollar collected will go directly to those in need. Visit our GoFundMe page to make a contribution. DONATE HERE
- Support Through Purchases: By purchasing from our Mantiqueira microlots, you are directly contributing to the relief efforts, as 10% of all sales will be donated.
- Spread the Word: Share our GoFundMe campaign on social media and with your networks to help us reach more people.
We are committed to offering hope and support to the affected community, and we believe that together, we can make a tangible difference in their lives. Your compassion and generosity can help bring relief and comfort to many during this challenging time.
