We support small farmers

Mantiqueira

Probably the best regarded and most awarded producing region in Brazil. This mountain range in Minas Gerais state is largely represented by smallholder producers.

Mantiqueira is located in the south of Minas Gerais, in altitudes between 1,000m and 1,400m above sea level, having mild temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees during most of the year. The region’s microclimate and terroir reflect directly to the coffee quality, adding citric fruity notes to the coffee. Most of the micro-lots on offer at Minas Hill come from there.

At Minas Hill Coffee, we value small producers and family-owned farms. Since the company was created, we could see how we have changed their lives by simply buying their amazing coffee and bringing those hidden gems to Australia. By supporting small traditional farmers, we know we are also supporting sustainability and industry’s good practices, such as promotion of biodiversity and crops without agrochemicals. Our producers focus on quality, traceability, good agricultural practices, social and environmental responsibility, and food safety.

Every year, we bring a selection of outstanding micro-lots from those small producers to Australia. As we always say, coffee is made of stories, and people. You can expect to find high acidity, sweetness, velvety body and citric / fruity notes in coffees from these farmers.

Flowers in Action

APAS Women2

Flowers in Action is a project created by women, supported by women and focused in women. We’ve partnered with female producers to enable better opportunities to their female members. Flowers in Action encourages female coffee farmers to produce, process and brand their own coffee, showcasing their talent, creativity and journey. This initiative not only values their work but also creates new opportunities in coffee, in their families, communities and association. The project also promotes activities to help their professional and personal development such as courses, seminars, implementation of environmentally friendly farming methods and incentive to join local coffee competition.
Flowers in Action aims to empower women and help them occupy leadership roles within the industry. One of the outcomes is a range of unique micro-lots 100% produced by women. This is an ongoing project, for more information contact .
